Thanks to helpful links from [livejournal.com profile] sol_se, I've watched the first episode of the new Torchwood series. Non-spoilery first thoughts: it's not bad. Given how anxious fans have been about the Americanization, it seemed to me to work pretty well on a character level. The plot was full of tripe, but that's nothing new. At least the tripe was put in service of making the characters, by and large, in character. I like the new CIA guy, really don't like the ingenue CIA girl, who is a dolt and for whose presence in the CIA I cannot suspend my disbelief. Don't know why the doctor (to judge from her clothes) seems always to have been called in for some emergency whilst in the middle of a cocktail party. Gwen and Rhys are in good form. Jack actually doesn't get to do much, hopefully more later...?

My favorite bit may well have been the CIA guy's consternation over having to pay a toll to cross the bridge into Wales.

Title: "For the Greater Good"
Characters: Ten, Jack
Rating: PG-13 for themes, angst
Spoilers: Massive spoilers for TW: Children of the Earth, nothing really for DW, except basic New Who premise.
Disclaimer: I claim nothing, not even the stuff I've made up.
Summary: Set after CotT and shortly before The Waters of Mars: the Doctor and Jack save history and catch up on recent events.
A/N: This story has been floating in my mind for while and finally floated out.
