It's interesting that you found their relationship fascinating but were left emotionally cold. I'm sure I've had that response to characters/relationships, though I can't think of an example right now (unless, it's "fascinating like watching a train wreck," which--that final season apart--I don't think is what you mean). You were smart, I think, to quit before the last season, though it had some good moments.
