Brief RL Update
Aug. 18th, 2010 03:38 pmBack from vacation in California, where I had a very nice dinner with
whitebird. It was a good example of synchronicity. He'd had a very busy day at work, so we didn't head off for dinner till after 9 p.m. or something. First choice restaurant was closed, so we ended up heading down the block to Very Good Restaurant you usually can't get a seat at without a reservation, but we arrived late enough that seating was immediate, so all was well.
My first evening back, I got menaced by a skunk. When I took a step too close, it trotted right over to me, tail bristling. I froze in terror, of course, and after a few seconds, it skittered off. In retrospect, it was kind of cool.
I also spent two days in Mendocino with my parents, lovely weather and the first time in years I've gone to the Russian Gulch tide pools. The tide was in, but it was still lovely. The path down to the tide pools is much more overgrown than when I was 11, but the last bit down the cliff is as scary as ever. I have a photo of
ewans_gal_4ever and me at those tide pools about 19 years ago, and it was with some shock I realized I still own the same shirt, and it's still in good shape. And I still wear it.
