I'm glad I had a bad reaction to the hype, so I got to go into the movie with low expectations. I agree it was a little cold--relative to truly excellent character drama. But it wasn't silly character drama, so I'm well content.
Ophelia in DT's Hamlet is fine. They presented her pretty traditionally, which I prefer to weird interpretations that seems to push the credibility of how the lines (hers and others') present her. There was one interesting interpretive choice in her mad lines, re. who she addressed what line to, and I won't say more so as not to spoil it if you see it.
