So sorry I didn't reply to this! It just got buried under a weirdly huge workload this winter (despite teaching well under full time). I haven't read The Great Divorce. It sounds like an interesting window into Lewis's views, which I would generally interpret as more God's judgment-based than that. (It must be said, I don't know the specifics of his theology well, though.) Sounds kind of Buddhist actually.
