I think not engaging with those questions at all is considerably easier than challenging them, which is why a lot of people prefer to go Nazis=bad and be done with it. That's a deeply limited point of view which does not account for very much. It is annoying that they're using DS9 - a show that really did engage with these issues on a number of levels - as a simple argument. Kira almost certainly has a higher body count than Garak, and definitely a higher civilian body count. And if you worry about the limited and/or bad faith readers, you can't get to the engaged and interested readers.
