Re. bullets, yeah, that occurred to me too. Like so much (almost all?) cruelty in the world, it often comes down to saving/making money.

Gertrude has certainly fallen out of favor as a name. My grandmother's parents had some interesting naming conventions. Their daughters were Beda, Phil, Ullrica, and Gertrude. The last two sound Swedish. No one seems to know anything about the origins of "Beda." Phil is an odd dive into Greek. Hm, the old days.
